Answering the Call for Design

(12/7/07) The National Domestic Violence Hotline (NDVH) recently celebrated the grand re-opening of its call center in Austin, Texas, thanks to a little help from Target. The NDVH is a 24-hour support line operating 365 days a year to help those affected by domestic violence.

Designed in the late 1990s, the out-of-date work environment was dark, crowded and offered little privacy for advocates to answer the more than 18,500 calls they receive each month.

Teams from Community Relations, Property Development and Target Commercial Interiors lent their expertise to create a comfortable and functional work space that also provides additional stations to answer more calls.

One NDVH employee was impressed that Target “knows this work is important enough to invest in advocates having a good environment so that we can provide the best service to victims."

Target partnered with the National Domestic Violence Hotline call center
to redesign their office space.

The renovation included updated offices, a refurnished break lounge and new ergonomic work stations that offer both privacy and noise control.

Target has partnered with the NDVH since its very first call in 1996. Our support of NDVH is part of our commitment to family violence prevention and our focus on fostering safe families and communities.
